SOM LLP is a leading management-side labour and employment law firm. Our firm is specialized, established in its field, and has a strong litigation practice before the province’s courts, administrative tribunals and labour board. Students will have the opportunity to work closely and directly with experienced and respected labour and employment lawyers.
As a student, you can expect to develop a strong foundation in research and writing skills. However, you will also be involved with all legal and practical aspects of any matter you work on including: drafting pleadings; meeting with clients; interviewing witnesses; and attending motions, mediations, hearings and trials. We ensure that our students are kept “in the loop” on all aspects of a file and we strongly believe that this offers our students a learning experience like no other.
We are not participating in the 2020-2021 Articling Recruitment Program and are not hiring for the 2020 summer term, therefore, are not accepting student applications.
Mentors
SOM LLP has been recognized for its demonstrated mentorship of students and young lawyers within Ontario’s labour and employment bar. In 2016, partner Malcolm MacKillop received the Ontario Bar Association – Labour & Employment Law section’s Randall Echlin Mentorship Award.
