Emily Owens

Bio

Emily is a summer law student who is currently completing her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law. Emily has a strong interest in litigation, having taken part in numerous advocacy competitions throughout her time at law school. She is an executive member of the Western Labour and Employment Law Society, the Gender and the Law Association, and the Community Outreach team. Emily is also a Student Editor on the Canadian Journal of Law and Jurisprudence, a Research Assistant focusing on human rights law and sex discrimination, and a Chapter President of the Canadian access to justice charity: Level. Changing Lives Through Law.

Prior to law school, Emily completed a Specialized Bilingual Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Philosophy, and a Post-Grad Certificate in Public Administration at Glendon College, York University. She has previous work experience as a Safety Coordinator and Human Resources Assistant with a manufacturing company in Toronto, and as a Legal Intern with the Equity and Human Rights office of Western University.
