Bio

Brandin advises management in all areas of workplace law, including labour relations, employee discipline and dismissal, employment standards, and drafting contracts and policies. Brandin maintains a broad labour and employment litigation practice and has acted for clients before Ontario’s Superior Court, Divisional Court, Commercial List, Court of Appeal, Human Rights Tribunal, Labour Relations Board, private arbitrators and mediators, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. He also has experience bargaining collective agreements as a member and leader of management bargaining teams.

Brandin joined the firm following his articles at the Court of Appeal for Ontario where he clerked for Chief Justice Warren Winkler and Justice David Doherty. Brandin received his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, where he graduated with the Bronze Medal. Prior to his articles, Brandin completed two student terms at a national law firm.

Since joining the firm, Brandin has also provided public-sector advice on the constitutional obligations of government in collective bargaining under s. 2(d) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. He previously served as research assistant to constitutional scholar Peter Hogg in support of the 4th edition of Liability of the Crown. Prior to law school, Brandin was a special assistant to the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Hon. Peter Milliken, M.P.

Brandin is President of the Board of Directors of Cycle Toronto. Brandin is from the small town of Belmont, Ontario.
